About the Madhya Pradesh Judicial Reforms Council

Madhya Pradesh Judicial Reforms Council is a part of the National Judicial Reforms Council working under the aegis of the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI), which is a premier National Business Chamber for Women envisioning Global Impact for Women Entrepreneurs, Businesswomen and Professionals from all walks of life.
Supported by the massive global and influential women’s networks viz. G100, ALL Ladies League (ALL), Women Economic Forum (WEF) and SHEconomy, with 250,000 members and industry leaders worldwide, WICCI drives fundamental changes in governmental policies, laws, incentives and entrepreneurial ecosystems, with a view to robustly encourage and empower women in business, industry and commerce across all sectors and fields.

Madhya Pradesh Judicial Reforms Council aims to:

  • Focus on the upliftment of legal statuses of the stakeholders in the state. This encompasses a comprehensive approach towards enhancing and elevating their legal standing and rights.
  • Focus on providing legal literacy to foster the process of legal awareness. The council seeks to empower individuals to comprehend and assert their rights within the legal framework by imparting knowledge and understanding of legal principles and processes.
  • Build an environment that allows for the secure and unfettered exercise of rights. The council aims to create a setting where individuals can confidently exercise their rights, free from any threats or impediments.
  • Encourage individuals to fulfill their obligations and duties as active participants in the legal system. Thus, it will be working in furtherance of fulfillment of duties of individuals. 
  • Accelerate and strengthen reform implementation by using the judicial system’s resources and experience, thereby improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the legal framework.

About the Competition

The Legal Innovators Contest of the Madhya Pradesh Judicial Reforms Council is a unique competition specifically designed to initiate robust discussions to address some of the most critical challenges faced by the Indian legal system in the present times. Herein, the participants are invited to propose innovative solutions that can serve as gamechangers in addressing persistent issues mentioned in the next section of the rulebook. By bringing together creative minds and fostering a spirit of innovation, we aim to curate actionable strategies that can significantly improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and fairness of the legal system in India.

  1. Overcrowding of Prisons in India
  2. Steps for digitalization of records of the Court
  3. Possible ways to reduce the pendency of cases

General Details

  • The official language of this competition will be English.
  • The competition will be held entirely online through Zoom, a video conferencing tool.
  • The competition will run on the basis of the Indian Standard Time (IST +05:30 GMT). Please make sure, you prepare for this in advance.

Registration

  • All interested students shall be required to register for the competition in order to be eligible for participating in the same before 28th July 2024 (11:59 PM).
  • The registration fee is INR 100/- for Single Participant and INR 150/- for team of two participants. The same shall be non-refundable.
  • The payment of the registration fee must be made according to the instructions provided in the registration form.

  • Each team will be assigned a unique team code that they shall use as a reference point throughout the competition.
  • Any changes in the contact details of Team members must be notified to the OC at the earliest. This obligation to inform shall continue throughout the course of the competition, unless such a Team withdraws or is disqualified from the competition.
  • The OC from the Registration Forms will prepare all certificates for every participating team member. Thus, it is incumbent upon the participants to ensure that their names are spelt correctly.

Submission Guidelines

  • The submissions need to be made via this Google Form only. Submissions made by any other means and after deadline shall not be considered.
  • The name of the document shall be Author’s Name- MPJRC’s Task.
  • Authors are requested to put their names at the top right of their submission. All entries should be submitted in .doc or .pdf format.
  • Submission and publication of manuscripts that purposefully target or intend to harm the religious, socio-cultural, and/or political sentiments of any reasonable reader are strictly prohibited. The submissions must strictly be limited to legal analysis of the covered topics.
  • The language used must not be unparliamentary, abusive or result in disrepute of any third person.
  • The written submissions shall not bear the logo, name, etc. of the Team, its members or the Institution/College/University represented by the Team.
  • Similarity check for the Blog is to done using the Turnitin software. A maximum of 5% of similarity is permissible for the manuscript to pass the stage of technical review. Usage of AI Tools like ChatGPT is strictly prohibited.
  • Paraphrasing as well as verbatim usage of content without appropriate citation of authorities shall qualify as plagiarism.
    • STYLE SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Main Body: Times New Roman, 12 points, 1.5 line spacing, Justified, 1-inch margins on all sides.
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10 points, 1.0 line spacing, Left Aligned.
  • The submission should contain not exceed 1500 words.
  • The relevant sources/ references if any, must be mentioned as footnotes. Citations, if required, must strictly conform to the standards laid down in the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal
  • Authorities (4th ed., 2012)

  • Last Date of Registration- 28th July, 2024 (Sunday)
  • Last Date of Submission- 31st July, 2024 (Wednesday)
  • Date of Presentation- 4th August, 2024 (Sunday)

Prizes

In order to give recognition to the best performer, Winner, Runners up, and Second Runners up would be awarded with cash prize along with the Certificate of Merit.

Certificates of Participation shall be awarded to all the Participants.
