Introduction
The Lokpal of India, the apex anti-corruption body of the Government of India, has released a Vacancy Circular dated 17 September 2025 inviting applications for the engagement of Law Clerks on a short-term contractual basis.
A total of six (06) Law Clerk positions are available for the year 2025.
About Lokpal of India
The Lokpal of India is the statutory anti-corruption ombudsman established under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013, responsible for investigating corruption allegations against public functionaries, including those serving at the highest levels of government.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) or an Integrated Law Degree from a recognized university/institute established by law in India and recognized by the Bar Council of India for enrolment as an Advocate.
- Final year students of 3-year or 5-year law programs are also eligible to apply, provided they furnish proof of qualification before joining.
Age Limit
- Applicants must be between 20 and 32 years of age as on the closing date of applications.
Desirable Competencies
- Research and analytical skills.
- Strong legal drafting and writing abilities.
- Proficiency in using legal databases and search engines such as eSCR, Manupatra, SCC Online, LexisNexis, and Westlaw.
Duties and Responsibilities
Law Clerks engaged by the Lokpal of India will assist in:
- Preparing brief summaries of complaint cases and hearing matters.
- Conducting legal research and assisting in drafting judgments, policy documents, and regulations.
- Assisting in preparation of annual reports, handbooks, and speeches.
- Supporting Members or the Chairperson in academic and administrative assignments.
Remuneration and Tenure
- ₹80,000 per month (consolidated) during the first year.
- If extended for a second year, remuneration will be ₹90,000 per month.
- No additional allowances or perquisites are admissible.
- Engagement is purely temporary and contractual, conferring no claim for permanent employment.

Selection Process
- Applications will be shortlisted based on eligibility and merit.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Viva Voce and/or Written Test at Lokpal of India, New Delhi.
- The final selection will be based on performance in the interview/test.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Important Instructions
- Applications received after the closing date or without prescribed documents will be rejected.
- The appointment will not entitle the candidate to any claim for regular service.
- The selected Law Clerks must maintain confidentiality and high standards of integrity during and after the term of engagement.
- Law Clerks shall not practice as Advocates during the term of engagement and for two years thereafter before the Member or Chairperson to whom they were attached.
