We are grateful that you have shown interest in contributing to the Centre for Maritime Law Blog!

Maritime laws in India have been an adaption of foreign statutes to date, which do not serve to answer the questions pertaining to the mainland accurately. Moreover, the regime lacks timely amendments and congruous implementation of rules. The Centre recognizes and acknowledges an up-gradation to the field and readily seeks to divulge into prepping for instruments to deal with modern perforating complications and strives for development and dissemination of knowledge and expertise, firmly equipped with the zeal to take the relevancy to a higher dais.

We welcome original contributions which provide high-quality legal analysis of recent maritime law developments across the nation as well as the globe, including case law, current litigation, legislation, policy-making, and activism. The contributions should be able to connect both national and global concerns

Contributions not complying with our submission guidelines shall not be considered. We look forward to receiving your contributions and thank our contributors in advance for helping us ensure that the Blog is a space where authors can share their work with a wide audience!

Who can contribute?

The Blog aims at being an egalitarian space and thus welcomes submissions from students, researchers, policy-makers, academicians, lawyers, and members of the maritime and shipping industry.

How to contribute?

If you would like to contribute to the blog, we’d be thrilled to receive your submission! Please email it to [email protected], with the subject Blog Submission: <contribution title> and <author(s) name>. If you would like your blog piece to include a photo and a short biography, please include this information in your submission email.

Once you have submitted your draft post, the Editors will be in touch. We endeavor to respond quickly to Blog submissions and you can anticipate a response within a fortnight.

  • If the contribution is rejected, the same shall be communicated with a brief feedback.
  • If it is considerd that your post has potential to be published, but is not currently of the required standard, then we will send back your work with editorial suggestions in tracked changes. However, the same does not amount to acceptance of the post.
  • If the post is accepted for publication, the same shall be done at the earliest and the author shall be informed via mail along with the link to their blog post. Kindly note that the publication timing however, may differ depending on the issues being dealt with by the post. The issues of current legal, national and/or international importance may be published a bit earlier than any other area of research. We request the authors to kindly co-operate if such situation is to ever arise.

Keeping the above in mind, we aim at attaining the highest quality for our blog and maintain the same. Thus, we shall not be publishing a post if we are not satisfied that it fulfills our objectives. If you feel unable to accept the proposals after discussion, or do not wish to participate in the editorial process, then you are free to withdraw your submission.

Submission Guidelines
  • The write-up shall be in English only and should not exceed more than 2000 words.
  • Co-authorship to a maximum of two is permitted.
  • The write-up shall have no plagiarism and should be the original work of the contributors.
  • Formatting Criteria:
    • Main Body: Font: Times New Roman, Font Size – 12, Line Spacing – 1.5 and Alignment – Justified.
    • Footnotes: Font: Times New Roman, Font Size – 10, Line Spacing – 1.0 and Alignment – Justified.
    • The contributor shall follow a Uniform mode of Citation.
Dialogue and Promotion

The Blog aims to stimulate dialogue and debate, so once your post is published kindly keep an eye out for comments and participate in the discussion to stimulate the research and knowledge of the topic further.

Note: By submitting a post to the blog, the Contributor guarantees that the post is original and unpublished. They also permit the Centre for Maritime Law Blog to use their post, with full attribution but without further consent, on a non-commercial basis in online and offline publications.
