The High Court of Judicature at Bombay, along with its benches at Nagpur and Aurangabad, has announced the recruitment for Law Clerk positions on a contractual basis for a period of one year. This is an excellent opportunity for fresh law graduates and postgraduates to gain hands-on legal experience by assisting Hon’ble Judges in judicial and academic work.

Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualifications:
- Fresh law graduates who passed their LL.B. final examination in the first attempt with a minimum of 55% marks.
- Candidates holding a Postgraduate Degree in Law (LL.M.) are also eligible.
- Skills:
- Basic knowledge of computers and software related to case law research (e.g., SCC Online, Manupatra).
- Age Limit:
- Minimum: 21 years
- Maximum: 30 years (as of the date of application).
- Recommendation:
- Applications must be recommended by the Principal of the Law College or the President of a Bar Association at the respective location.
Selection Process
- Interview:
- Eligible candidates will appear for a personal interview at the Bombay High Court or its benches.
- The interview will be conducted by a Selection Committee nominated by the Hon’ble Chief Justice.
- Marks for the interview: 50 (minimum passing marks: 25).
- Final Selection:
- Based on merit, subject to approval by the Hon’ble Chief Justice.

Job Role and Responsibilities
Law Clerks shall carry out such work as assigned by the Hon’ble Judge including to assist the Judge in his/her Judicial work by carrying out research in such matters and on such legal issues as may be required by the Judge also to attend the Court, make notes, draft memoranda etc.

- Tenure:
- Initial appointment for 1 year, extendable for an additional year based on performance.
- Leave Policy:
- Maximum 8 days of leave in a calendar year.
- Prohibition on Practice:
- Law Clerks are prohibited from practicing as advocates during their tenure.
- Termination Clause:
- The appointment can be terminated by either party with a one-month notice or immediately by the Hon’ble Chief Justice for unsatisfactory performance.
