Vacancy for Young Professionals (Legal) at National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, is inviting applications for 44 Young Professional (Legal) positions on a contractual basis across its offices nationwide.

Eligibility

To be considered for these coveted legal positions at NHAI, candidates must meet specific requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Applicants must hold a Degree in Law from a recognized University/National Law School/Institute.
  • CLAT (Post Graduate) Score: A crucial requirement is a valid CLAT (Post Graduate) Score from 2022 onward. The selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit in this score.
  • Age Limit: Candidates should be below 32 years of age as on the closing date of online applications. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per Government of India Rules for different categories.
  • Preferred Experience: While not mandatory, experience in areas such as contractual matters, arbitration, legislative matters, or land acquisition will be given preference during the selection process. Applicants claiming such experience must clearly mention it and submit supporting evidence.

Remuneration and Contract Terms

The engagement for Young Professionals (Legal) is purely on a contractual basis. Here’s what you need to know about the contract and compensation:

  • Initial Remuneration: An initial consolidated remuneration of Rs. 60,000/- to Rs. 65,000/- per month, inclusive of all benefits, will be provided.
  • Experienced Professionals: For candidates possessing 1 to 2 years of verified relevant experience, the remuneration will be Rs. 65,000/- to Rs. 70,000/- per month.
  • Annual Increment: Subject to satisfactory performance, the consolidated remuneration will be increased by 5% for each succeeding year.
  • Contract Period: The initial engagement is for a period up to two years, which may be extended by one additional year based on NHAI’s requirements and satisfactory performance. However, no extension beyond a total period of three years will be granted under any circumstances. NHAI also reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time without assigning a reason.

  • How to Apply: Visit the NHAI website (http://www.nhai.gov.in). Navigate to About NHAI → Vacancies → Current → Click on the advertisement of Young Professional (Legal) → Online Application.
  • Required Documents for Upload: You will need to upload scanned copies of several documents, including your photograph, signature, Class X Certificate (for Date of Birth), Caste/Category Certificate (if applicable), Law Degree, CLAT (PG) 2022 Scorecard, proof of experience (if claimed), and proof of disability (if applicable). Ensure these documents adhere to specified file types (jpg/jpeg/png/gif for images, pdf for documents) and size limits (mostly 1 MB, PwBD proof up to 2 MB).
  • Application Deadline: The online application form must be submitted by 10.09.2025 (6:00 PM). It is advised to apply well in advance.
  • Important Submission Notes:
    • Fill the online application form with utmost care as no alterations or modifications will be entertained after submission.
    • If you submit multiple applications, only the last application filled by you will be considered.
    • Once an application is submitted, candidates will not be allowed to withdraw their candidature.
