Vacancy Details
The Karnataka High Court has opened 158 vacancies for the position of Civil Judge, which includes 24 backlog vacancies.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Civil Judge position, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
1. Educational Qualification
- Must hold a Law degree from a recognized university in India.
- Must be enrolled as an Advocate.
2. Age Limit (as of the last date of application submission)
- General category: Not exceeding 35 years.
- SC/ST/Category-I of OBC: Not exceeding 40 years.
- Category II(A), II(B), III(A), III(B) of OBC: Not exceeding 38 years.
- Ex-servicemen: Age relaxation of 3 years as per rules.
- In-service candidates in the Karnataka High Court or District Judiciary: Maximum age limit of 43 years (SC/ST) and 40 years (others).

- General knowledge, reasoning, and mental ability
- Main Written Examination (Each Paper – 100 Marks)
- Translation Paper – English to Kannada and vice versa
- Law Paper-I – Civil & Criminal Procedure, Evidence, Pleadings & Constitution
- Law Paper-II – Judgment writing (Civil)
- Law Paper-III – Judgment writing (Criminal)
- Viva-voce (100 Marks)
- Candidates’ legal knowledge, general awareness, and suitability for judicial service will be assessed.
- Computer Test (25 Marks – Qualifying in Nature)
Pay Scale
- The selected candidates will receive a salary in the pay scale of ₹77,840 – ₹1,36,520 per month.
