About the Journal

The call for submissions is for Journal of University Institute of Legal Studies is an annual peer reviewed interdisciplinary journal, which has an ISSN 2229-3906, and is being published in print version only since 2007, by University Institute of Legal Studies, Punjab University, Chandigarh, India.Besides Law, we also welcome original articles for publication from different fields of Social Sciences like Economics, Commerce, Political Science, Sociology, History and Languages etc. The Journal has a wide reach and invites articles each year from scholars of eminent Universities, Colleges, various education/research centres and also from academicians from different fields/sections of society. We firmly believe in inviting manuscripts which are innovative and cater to new ideas of research as well as add to the existing state of knowledge.

INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS/SUBSCRIBERS

Manuscripts written in English language (not exceeding 5000 words, font size 12, theme font- Times New Roman) and typed on both the sides of the paper, double spaced, with one inch margin on all four sides in MS-Word format, only in colour black, will be accepted.

In the first page of the manuscript (cover page), please provide full name(s) (first, middle and last) and full address (Institute‘s address along with designation, correspondence address along with e-mail) and contact numbers of the author(s). The author‘s name or affiliation should not appear anywhere else in body of manuscript except the cover page because we follow blind peer review process. Every manuscript should be labeled as: A Research Paper, or A Case Comment, or A Book Review(as the case maybe), etc. The actual paper should commence from the second page containing the title followed by the abstract (not exceeding 100 words and adequately describing the work and its significance), and then three to four keywords, followed by the main document.

Tables (if any) should be numbered consecutively. Title of the table must appear above the table, sources at the bottom.

The bibliographic details of all works cited in the manuscript must be given separately. References and citations should be complete in all respects and arranged in alphabetical order. Citations of the law related works are to be given as per the format of Indian Law Institute (detail available at www.ili.ac.in). For keeping uniformity (in research papers from social sciences), MLA style of referencing is to be used.

Only works which have not been published earlier or not being considered for publication elsewhere will be entertained and all the authors are required to give an undertaking along with article at the time of submission that her/his/their research work is an original piece of research and presently has not been submitted elsewhere for publication.

The review process takes at least 3-4 months approximately. The manuscripts not accepted for publication will not be sent back to contributors. The manuscripts lacking the recommended pattern and style can be rejected on this ground without any information to the contributor. The decision of Editorial Board is final and will be informed through e-mail only thus it is obligatory for the contributors to provide their e-mail addresses for correspondence.

Although articles shall be subject to rigorous editing process, the accuracy of quotations, titles, names, dates, charts, tables, footnotes, conclusion and recommendations etc. is solely the responsibility of the author(s).

A copyright of the articles and other contributions published in Journal of University Institute of Legal Studies is vested in the journal. No claim regarding it would be entertained at a later stage.

Contributions to the journal should be e-mailed and hard copy in duplicate along with duly signatured author deceleration be sent to the Editor, Journal of University Institute of Legal Studies, University Institute of Legal Studies, Sector 14, Punjab University, Chandigarh.

The due benefit (if any) to the contributors in terms of academic/professional advancement for the published work in any volume of Journal of University Institute of Legal Studies would be applicable for the whole year (whenever claimed) since it is an annual publication.

Peer Review Process and Evaluation


The aim of peer review process is to ensure that high quality and original articles are published. All manuscripts submitted for publication are firstly evaluated by the Editorial Board as a part of blind peer review process and then are forwarded to referees (who are experts in the subject) for evaluation. Following their expert opinion, authors are advised to revise (if needed) their manuscripts and then only, accepted articles with consent of editorial board are placed in journal.
