About the Organization
The Netherlands Academy for Empirical Legal Studies serves as a platform that brings together (aspiring) empirical legal scholars from all universities in the Netherlands. Embodying a national collaboration in the field of empirical legal studies in the context of the sector plan for the legal discipline, the ELS Academy is focused on educating and supporting researchers who are interested in empirically exploring questions that are legally relevant.
The goal of the ELS Academy is twofold. On the one hand, the focus is on bringing together empirical legal scholars and building an ELS community in the Netherlands. On the other hand, the ELS Academy pools resources in the field of empirical legal studies and makes them easily accessible at the service of individual scholars and research groups at the various law schools in the Netherlands.
About the Conference
International Empirical Legal Studies (ELS) Conference, organized by the Netherlands Academy for Empirical Legal Studies. The Conference will be held on-site in Amsterdam on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd September 2022 and is hosted by the Faculty of Law of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The Conference will offer you a unique place to engage, discuss and present your research results in the field of empirical legal research with other international empirical legal scholars.

About the Submissions
On September 1 and 2 2022, the ELS Academy will organize an International Empirical Legal Studies Conference at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
We invite the following types of submissions:
- Pre-arranged Panels
- Individual Paper Presentation
- Poster Presentations
Submissions require an abstract of 250 words maximum. We strongly advise applicants to submit a structured abstract, that is, an abstract that contains the following sections: Background, Research questions, Methodology, Results, Conclusions. Please add 3-5 keywords that comprise the substantive area of law. Abstracts should be submitted no later than 1 May 2022. Applicants will be notified of acceptance latest by 1 June 2022. Author information should list full name and title, full affiliation, and e-mail address.
Pre-arranged panels: Panel submissions include a title and an abstract for the entire panel as well as titles, abstracts and author information for all papers. Each panel should contain between three and four papers. The panel can be submitted by any of the authors.
