NLIU Journal of Business Laws
The NLIU-JBL was conceived with the idea that it would be an efficient platform to foster meaningful research in the arena of business and commercial laws. Through the JBL, our endeavor is to provide students and budding scholars with opportunities to contribute to the intellectual discourse surrounding the field.
The response we have received, despite the inaugural and second volume of the NLIU-JBL only being published online in 2019 and 2020, respectively, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, proves that the Journal is well on its way to achieving its objectives. It is our sincerest hope that the ideas the NLIU-JBL expresses can one day become a reality.
In light of the above, we are extremely honored that Hon’ble Justice Mohammad Rafiq, Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and the Chancellor of NLIU has graced the NLIU-JBL as its Patron-in-Chief. Furthermore, we are grateful to have Prof. (Dr.) V. Vijayakumar, the Vice-Chancellor of NLIU as the Patron of this Journal.
Theme
The NLIU-JBL includes the entirety of business and commercial laws within its ambit. It covers diverse areas, including company law, securities and capital markets law, intellectual property law, law of banking and finance, insolvency and bankruptcy law, taxation law, investment law, competition law, contract law, employment law, commercial aspects of dispute
resolution, and white-collar crimes.
NLIU-JBL welcomes original and useful unpublished contributions from students, academicians, and professionals. The submissions are expected to be of contemporary social relevance and must demonstrate high standards of scholarship.
Categories of Submission
Long Articles – 4000 TO 7000 Words
Long articles must be comprehensive and contain a rigorous in-depth analysis of contemporary problem(s) and idea(s). It should include identification of lacunae in the existing status quo along with alternatives, suggestions, and references to a range of sources.
Short Articles- 2000 TO 4000 Words
Short articles should rigorously analyse the contemporary problem(s) and idea(s). They should ideally identify lacunae in the existing status quo, provide solutions, alternative suggestions, and should include references to a range of sources.
Case Comments- 2000 TO 4000 Words
A case comment should be a critique of a recent judgment. The comment should highlight the relevance of judgments to the field of business and commercial laws, in addition to the views expressed in the judgment, and include the critical opinion of the author.
Legislative Comments 2000 TO 4000 Words
The comment should provide a rigorous analysis of a recent legislative instrument. It should examine the objective of the legislation and the impact the same is expected to have.
Book Review- 1000 TO 3000 Words
A book review must be a crisp account of a recently published book dealing with business and commercial laws. It should discuss the issues explored and left unexplored and the related arguments of the author.
*Word limit is inclusive of footnotes but exclusive of the abstract. Kindly adhere strictly to the word limit prescribed.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions are expected to be of high academic quality, and must comply with the prescribed substance, formatting, and
citation standards. Furthermore, submissions will be accepted only if:
- The title succinctly encapsulates the topic and explains the body of work;
- The abstract briefly describes the idea behind the submission, its structure, and the authors conclusion(s);
- The issue(s) are clearly identified and adequately described; and
- The submission is coherently presented.
ubmission will not be accepted if it has been plagiarized. NLIU-JBL has a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism. Please note that any plagiarized submission will be outrightly rejected.

Times New Roman, Font Size 14, in CAPITALS, Bold, aligned CENTRE.
Abstract:
Times New Roman, Font Size 12, Italics, aligned CENTRE.
Keywords:
Times New Roman, Font Size 12, aligned JUSTIFIED.
Headings:
Heading: Times New Roman, Font Size 12, in CAPITALS, Bold, aligned CENTRE, numbered in Roman Numerals (I, II, III….).
Sub-Heading: Times New Roman, Font Size 12, in Small Capitals, Bold, aligned CENTRE, numbered in Capital Letters (A., B., C…..).
Heading under Sub-Heading: Times New Roman, Font Size 12, in Small Capitals, Bold, aligned CENTRE, numbered in English Numerals (1, 2, 3….).

Authorship
Co-Authorship
Co-authorship is permissible only up to a maximum of two authors. However, co-authorship is not allowed for Case Comment, Legislative Comment, and Book Review.
Copyright
Submissions made to the NLIU-JBL are on an exclusive basis. These submissions must not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The contribution presented to and accepted for publication along with the copyrights therein shall be the intellectual property of the NLIU-JBL and shall vest with it.
Along with the manuscript, the authors must send an originality and copyright statement signed by the author(s) declaring the manuscript to be the original work of the author and whereby the author(s) declares that the copyright of the work vests with NLIU, Bhopal.
