Concept Note :-
As we all know that start-up has become synonymous with country’s growth. Various Government policies and schemes launched by Indian Government to boost the start-ups in the countries. Many incubators and accelerators have been set up by the government and private players to support and nurture start-ups at various stages. Different important aspects are required to be nurtured and taken care of for sustained growth of start-ups. Out of these. Among many, Legal Aspects play a crucial role in the life cycle of a start-up. In most of the cases, start-up founders are not well versed with legal aspects related to start-up because of their non-legal background and because of that they land up into various difficulties. To address the above difficulty, the Legal Start-ups, in collaboration with GNLU Legal Incubation Council, GNLU Centre for IPR, Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar planned a unique Certificate Course on “Legal Aspects of Start-ups” for start-up founders and interested individuals in February 2021. Total 242 participants including students, faculty, incubates, professionals, experts, advisors, business owners, CEOs etc.

About Legal Start-ups
Indian Legal System is going through a tough time because of pendency of cases for years. Many efforts have been made to cope up with this situation. We need radical change in the existing legal system and innovation is the answer to this. Western countries have come up with several innovative platforms in the form of legal start-ups to address various legal affairs. We also need similar kind of legal start-ups in India to make the system efficient and effective. Looking at this situation, ‘Legal Startups’ has been created to highlight all the legal start-ups across the world. About GNLU Legal Incubation Council (GLIC)
GNLU Legal Incubation Council is Section 8 Company incorporated under Companies Act, 2013 promoted by Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar for supporting students’ Legal and Non-Legal Start-ups. It is supported by Students Start-up & Innovation Policy (SSIP), Education Department, Government of Gujarat & Industries Commissionerate, Government of Gujarat. Currently GLIC is incubating around 17 start-ups in the domain of law and allied areas.
About GNLU Centre for IPR (GCIPR)
GNLU Centre for Intellectual Property Rights was established in January 2016 with an aim to promote research, extension and training in the field of intellectual property rights of India. Intellectual Property Rights and their related laws are still in a developing phase in our country but its importance cannot be ignored.

Conduct of Course :-
Sessions will be conducted on Saturday (evening) and Sunday (morning). Course will be conducted on Cisco WebEx platform.
Certification :-
90% attendance is mandatory for award of Certificate of Completion of the course. There will be a time bound online examination based on MCQ for 100 marks to be conducted in the month of March 2022. Participants are expected to score a minimum of 50% marks to get a passing certificate. Grade Pattern for certification – (A+ 90% and above, A 80% and above, B+ 70% and above, B 60% and above, C 50% and above).
All the participants will be given an e-certificate for successfully completing the course.
