About Mentornexus
MentorNexus is an Indian-based, social mobility, e-mentorship program which centres itself around giving back to the legal fraternity
while bridging the gap between legal practitioners and students. It is an organization that provides year-round mentorship and networking events for law students across the country, free of cost.
Since August 2021, the team has received 500+applications and effectively paired up 300+law students with their mentors. In addition to this, MentorNexus organized a successful, 2-day ADR Bootcamp in collaboration with Changaroth Chambers LLC, Singapore in Jan 2022.
About the White Collar Bootcamp’ 22
Someone has rightly put it, White Collar Crimes is the best of both worlds, commercial and criminal law. Simply put, White-collar
crime is a non-violent crime where the primary motive is typically financial. Some common types of white-collar crimes are: Bank Fraud, Bribery, Money Laundering, Tax Evasion and Identity theft. To make it easier for you: Crimes committed by Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Subrata Roy – people who shook the roots of the financial system of our country.
While documentaries and Netflix shows are now catching up in enhancing our knowledge about these crimes, it’s still a blurry subject
matter when it comes to being taught in law schools. Biggest Impediment: White-collar crimes are so diverse that there is no one legal statue that could ever encapsulate all that encompasses the definition of white-collar crimes which, with the assistance of the latest technological wave, is extremely dynamic in it’s own way. It’s time to invest in your career. In this course, you will learn all about white-collar crimes in a way that welcomes opportunities, knowledge and growth.
BBB Practical Exercise
GROUP DISCUSSION ON BAD-BOY BILLIONAIRES:
The practical exercise is specifically curated to gauge the interest of students in white-collar crimes. Before the bootcamp, the team will share one case study ( Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Subrata Roy and Ramalinga Raju) with the participants and assign roles. On the day of the event, the participants will be divided into breakout rooms of 7-8 people and discuss the case study and why these qualify as landmark examples for white-collar crimes. After 20 minutes of discussion, students will be brought back to the common room and the moderator will address the students.
