About the Competition

The 1st National Insolvency and Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition (1st HPNLU NIBMCC) is an initiative by the Student Moot Court Committee (MCC) of The Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla (HPNLU) and Chambers of Abhinav Mishra, Advocates & Solicitors to bring together students from different regions to interact, compete and challenge their skills as future legal practitioners. As one of the emerging National Law Universities in India, HPNLU has hitherto undertaken measures to provide holistic and meaningful legal education to bright young students from across the country. Owing to the challenges posed by the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the event is set to take place virtually. HPNLU and Chambers of Abhinav Mishra, Advocates & Solicitors are honoured to invite the young Corporate Law enthusiasts to participate in the 1st National Insolvency and Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition, the oral rounds for which is to take place in March, 2022 virtually. We welcome Law Schools, Colleges/, Institutions & Universities from around the nation to participate in a mooting competition dealing with practical insolvency & bankruptcy law litigation. The competition provides a unique opportunity for students to experience real-world court proceedings before panels of prestigious judges. Preparations for this 1st HPNLU- NIBMCC, 2021 are underway and we aim to achieve all round excellence to commemorate the same. We cordially invite your esteemed institution to be a part of the competition and accept our invitation to participate in the same.

About HPNLU Shimla

The Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla (HPNLU) was established by an act of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha in the year 2016 (Act 16 of 2016). In the five years of its foundation, HPNLU has seen tremendous growth and has undertaken a good number of innovations to enhance the academic potential of its faculty members, students, and research scholars. Led by the visionary scholar of law,
the Vice-Chancellor professor (Dr.) Nishtha Jaswal, the University has been proactive in organizing a series of events encompassing a wide spectrum of socio-legal issues despite the spread of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown, HPNLU, has been at the forefront of using digital platforms to raise awareness about issues such as fundamental duties, reproductive rights of women, human rights and access to justice etc.

Chambers of Abhinav Mishra, Advocates & Solicitors was established in 2018 and has emerged as one of the eminent legal service providers for its diverse practice capabilities. Format of the Competition

  • Owing to the continuing challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event is set to take place virtually.
  • This edition’s problem will revolve around contemporary and developing aspects of Constitutional Law and The Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
  • The competition will have following rounds: Preliminary Rounds (Two), Octa Finals, Quarter Finals, Semi-finals and the Finals.
  • The registration fee for the event will be INR 3000/- (Indian Rupees Three Thousand Only).
  • There is no limits on the total participation and each shall be subject to the oral rounds of the competition.
  • The Moot Court Committee at HPNLU, Shimla welcomes Law Schools, Colleges, Institutions and Universities from all over the country, to participate in the 1st HPNLU – NIBMCC, 2022. Please note that there is no cap on the total number of teams participating in the competition, however, not more than one team will be allowed to represent any Law School, College or Institution. The Final Brochure along with the Moot Proposition and the Rule-Book shall be released latest by 16th January, 2022.

Commencement of Online Registration- January 16, 2022
Last date for Online Registration- February 20, 2022
Last date for seeking clarifications- February 25, 2022
Last Date for Submission of Memorials- March 15, 2022
Inauguration, Orientation & Researchers Test- March 25, 2022
Preliminary Rounds- March 25, 2022
Octa-Finals, Quarter Finals & Semi Finals- March 26, 2022
Final Round, Valedictory Ceremony & Prize distribution- March 27, 2022
