Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for these sought-after Law Researcher positions, candidates must meet specific criteria:
- Essential Qualification: Applicants must be enrolled as an Advocate under the Advocates Act 1961 with any State Bar Council.
- Experience: A minimum working experience of two years as on July 1, 2025, is essential.
- Desired Specialization: A Diploma or Post Graduation/LLM in Arbitration Law, Commercial Law, or Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong research and analytical skills, excellent writing ability, and good computer knowledge are required, including proficiency in legal search engines like Manupatra, SCC Online, and Westlaw.
- Age Limit: Candidates should not be above 27 years of age as on July 1, 2025.
What’s the DIAC Law Researcher Role Like?
The Law Researcher positions at DIAC are on a short-term contractual basis.
- Initial Term: The initial engagement period is for six months.
- Extension: This term is extendable up to three years, based on performance and requirements.
- Nature of Job: This is a full-time job, although purely contractual, and does not confer any right of permanent employment at DIAC.
- Notice Period: Law Researchers may be prematurely discharged without any notice. If a Law Researcher intends to leave early, a minimum one-month prior written notice to the Coordinator is required.
Remuneration
Selected Law Researchers will receive a consolidated gross amount of Rs. 65,000/- (Rupees Sixty Five Thousand only) per month.

Key Considerations
Applicants should be aware of specific grounds for disqualification and the expected code of conduct:
- Disqualification Grounds: Candidates must not be engaged or appointed elsewhere on an honorarium, payment, or voluntary basis. They also must not have been involved in any criminal case (pending or convicted for an offense involving moral turpitude) or be facing any disciplinary proceeding before the Bar Council of India, State Bar Council, or any other authority.
- Code of Conduct: Law Researchers are expected to maintain absolute devotion to duty and a high standard of morals and integrity. They must observe utmost secrecy regarding matters that come to their knowledge, both during and after their engagement, unless legally required. No other assignment or practice as an Advocate in any Court or Tribunal is permitted during the engagement. Adherence to the Bar Council of India Rules’ dress code and the DIAC Rules is also mandatory.
- Declaration: Selected candidates will need to execute a contract with DIAC and submit a declaration confirming eligibility, adherence to DIAC (Internal Management) Rules, disclosure of any conflict of interest, and commitment to fair and impartial conduct.
