Educational Qualifications and Bar Council Membership
Applicants must hold a Graduate degree in Law from a recognized university. Crucially, the candidate must also be a member of the Bar council of the concerned state. Candidates who possess a Post Graduate (PG) degree in Law will be given preference. Note that degrees obtained from Open University are not recognized for this recruitment process.
Essential Experience in Banking Law
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in handling Banking related laws as of 01.10.2025. Repco Bank gives preference to candidates who have experience in any Bank or Financial Institution. Additionally, in-depth knowledge of Indian laws and regulations is required.
Age Limit and Statutory Relaxation
The maximum age limit for unreserved and EWS category candidates is 30 years as of 01.10.2025. Age relaxation in the upper age limit is available for reserved categories based on Government Policy:
- SC/ST candidates receive a 5-year relaxation.
- OBC candidates receive a 3-year relaxation.
- Ex-servicemen receive a 5-year relaxation.
Cumulative age relaxation is not permitted.
Essential Language Requirement
Candidates should have the knowledge (to read, write and speak) of any one of the Southern India regional languages, specifically Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, or Kannada.
Remuneration
The selected candidate will be engaged as Assistant Manager (Legal) in Scale-I. The comprehensive pay scale for this post is Rs. 48480 – 2000/7 – 62480 – 2340/2 – 67160 – 2680/7 – 85920.
In addition to the basic pay, candidates will also be eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), Provident Fund (PF), and other perquisites admissible to the corresponding grade, as per the rules in force from time to time.
Core Job Responsibilities
The Assistant Manager (Legal) role focuses on expertise in Legal and recovery proceedings within the financial institution. Key responsibilities include:
- Handling legal matters related to Banking legal and Recovery laws.
- Representing the financial institution in arbitration proceedings. This includes drafting and filing necessary legal documents, conducting research, assisting in legal strategy preparation, and collaborating with internal teams.
- Monitoring changes in Indian laws and regulations related to arbitration and providing updates to management.
- Executing Arbitral Awards, which involves preparing the execution application and other requisite notices.
- Providing legal advice and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintaining accurate records of arbitration cases.
- Liaising with external legal counsel when necessary.
Selection Process and Examination Details
The selection process for the Assistant Manager (Legal) post involves a written exam and an interview. The bank reserves the right to shortlist an adequate number of candidates based on parameters decided by a bank-constituted committee. Selection will be finalized based on performance in this process.
- Location of Selection: The selection process is scheduled to be held in CHENNAI. The specific address will be communicated via the call letter.
- Probation: Selected candidates in Scale-I will undergo a 24-month (2 years) probationary period. Management holds the right to curtail or extend this period based on performance.

- Application Fee Payment: The required application fee of Rs. 1200/- (inclusive of GST) must be paid by means of a Bank Pay Order or Demand Draft issued by a Scheduled Commercial Bank. It should be drawn in favor of “REPCO BANK RECRUITMENT CELL” and payable at “CHENNAI”.
- Submission Deadline and Address: The completed application, along with the Demand Draft, must reach the Bank on or before 22.10.2025.

Mandatory Bond Requirement
Candidates selected for this post are required to execute a “Bond” with Surety. This bond mandates serving the Bank for at least a period of 2 years. Should the officer resign before completing this period, they will be required to indemnify and refund the amount to the Bank. The bond amount for Scale-I is Rs. 50000/- + 10000 (Training cost) + 3 month notice period.
Documentation Submission
Proof of essential documents like educational qualification, experience, caste certificate, and date of birth are not required at the time of applying. All necessary documents must be submitted only at the time of the Interview or if advised later.
