Eligibility Criteria for Research Law Assistant
To apply for this legal vacancy, candidates must satisfy specific age and educational qualifications as outlined in the notification.
1. Age Limit
Candidates must not have attained the age of 30 years as on the 1st of January or July that precedes the last date fixed for the submission of applications.
2. Educational Qualifications
- Law Degree: The candidate must be a Graduate in Law under recognized patterns (such as 10+2+3+3, 10+2+5, 10+2+4+3, or other recognized patterns) from recognized Universities in the Indian Union.
- Bar Enrollment: The degree should be recognized by the Bar Council of India for admission as an Advocate or Attorney of an Indian Court.
- Course Duration: Only candidates who have passed all their examinations within the duration of their course are eligible to apply.
- Recency of Degree: Only candidates who have obtained their Law Degree not earlier than five years as on the date of Notification are eligible.
3. Ineligibility
Candidates pursuing a Post-Graduate Degree in Law or any other degrees/programmes requiring compulsory attendance elsewhere are not eligible to apply.
Salary and Remuneration Details
Selected candidates for the post of Research Law Assistant will be paid a consolidated amount of Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand Only) per month as Honorarium.
- Note: Research Law Assistants are not entitled to any other allowances or perks.
Job Profile and Nature of Work
The assignment is on a full-time basis for a period of one year on an adhoc basis. Research Law Assistants are expected to assist Hon’ble Judges in both Judicial and Administrative work.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing brief summaries of fresh admission matters.
- Preparing synopses of regular hearing matters.
- Sitting in Court during hearings to note down arguments.
- Carrying out research work.
- Assisting the Judge in preparing speeches and academic papers.
- Preparing headnotes of judgments authored by the Judges, if required.
Selection Procedure
The selection will be based on the following:
- Viva Voce: Eligible candidates will have to appear for a viva voce at the Principal Seat at Chennai or the Madurai Bench.
- Screening Test: The committee may decide, at its discretion, to hold a screening test.
- Note: No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for attending the screening test or viva voce.
